The Journey Away

I once dreamt of swinging towards you,
And then of swinging away,
It was all a grand-nice-game…
Then the String I was swinging on broke,
And I was left swinging away.

I fell into the deepest waters,
I could see up from my watery grave,
The sunlight shinning, The broken string,
As I drifted, drifted… Still,
Deeper, Further… Away.

I had not rest, I had not peace,
In that deep-dark place,
I felt empty, Alone,
Still sinking, further… Away.

Is there hope? Is there joy?
For one so very long away,
One who is down-away-so deep,
Is there hope for them today?
Does the sunlight shine,
Can it still be seen,
When it is so far away?

If the lifeline is let go,
If it is lost,
Is there hope it can be regained?

What will happen to that old life,
Will I miss it anyway?
When I was swinging in the game,
Or in my watery grave.

What the future holds,
Is something new and vast,
Lest we return to sinking,
Lest we return…
And be defined by our past.

The hope is in the new,
Whatever it may be,
For the past did not last,
The past is the past,
I have not seen my end of days.

The journey is long,
The journey is deep,
It takes one a long way.
The lessons learned,
Helps one progress,
To move on and not be stained.

Life is moving, changing swiftly.
It is not one to sit and wait.
While we are worrying or thinking,
It may just come… and pass.

Life requires action,
As well as it requires thought.
And those who cease to act,
May be left to naught.

So take heed to what I tell you,
Take heed to what I say…
Life is to short to be hasty,
Take hold of action today.
